“Where should we take our photos?”
Whether you’re planning a couples session, engagement, or family portraits, Maryland offers so many beautiful backdrops—from romantic gardens and quiet waterfronts to architectural charm and open fields.
Here’s a curated list of my favorite Maryland photography locations that offer beautiful light, variety, and a timeless feel for your images:
This is hands-down my favorite location for sessions. It has the perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty. You’ll find historic stone buildings, split-rail fences, wide-open fields, wooded trails, and a peaceful river running alongside it all.
It’s especially gorgeous in the fall, but it truly photographs beautifully year-round. Whether you’re a family who loves the outdoors or a couple who wants cozy, romantic vibes—Jerusalem Mill is my go-to.
Located right on the Chesapeake Bay, this spot offers a classic nautical vibe with stunning water views and a charming marina. It’s one of the most popular spots for engagements and family sessions, especially during golden hour.
If you love botanical beauty and dreamy greenhouse vibes, this one’s for you. The Rawlings Conservatory features stunning glass architecture, tropical plants, and elegant garden paths—perfect for a romantic or styled shoot.
Please note: There is a photography fee and advance booking is required. I’m happy to assist with the scheduling!
This historic estate is such a gem for portrait sessions. The Hampton National Historic Site features stately Georgian architecture, wide open lawns, tree-lined paths, and a peaceful, classic feel that works beautifully for both romantic and family-centered shoots.
It’s especially stunning in the spring and fall—and there’s plenty of room to explore and get creative with different backdrops all in one location.
For an urban, energetic vibe with waterfront views, the Baltimore Inner Harbor is an amazing location. Between the skyline, boats, walkways, and iconic landmarks, it offers a fun and modern backdrop for couples or lifestyle sessions.
It’s especially striking at sunset when the city lights start to glow.
This location feels like a hidden gem. North Point State Park has a quiet beach, forested trails, and remnants of old architecture from its amusement park days. It’s perfect for couples or families who want something scenic, peaceful, and a little unexpected.
Sunset over the water here is gorgeous, and the variety in scenery makes it super versatile.
If you’re drawn to elegant gardens, curated blooms, and artistic landscaping, Ladew Gardens is pure magic. It’s known for its iconic topiary work, fountains, and secret-garden feel—perfect for dreamy engagement sessions or formal portraits.
Note: Photography is allowed with a reservation
This one is such a hidden gem. Cromwell Valley Park offers gorgeous meadows, walking trails, rolling hills, and seasonal wildflowers. It feels peaceful and open while offering beautiful light and tons of natural variety for portraits.
No problem—I help every client choose a location that fits their style, comfort level, and session goals. Whether you want something intimate, adventurous, romantic, or editorial, we’ll find the perfect spot for your photos together.
Have a place in mind that’s not on this list? I’d love to hear about it! I’m always excited to explore new locations with you.
